We had a great time celebrating Lauren Kramers 30th birthday - TopicsExpress

We had a great time celebrating Lauren Kramers 30th birthday Friday night at Kellehers in Peoria. Shes the one who keeps the blood of Retreat & Refresh Stroke Camp flowing officially as our director of operations. Unofficially, Lauren is sooooooo much more. She keeps track of all of us, especially Marylee Herrick Nunley, Larry Schaer and ME. Shes the one who has guided me to be more organized with all my Stroke Camp paperwork. No, not guided, dragged … showing and telling me repeatedly where to stuff things … :-) Yes, Im one type of OCD, and shes another, and there are times when Im sure we look at each other and wonder how the other survives. With me, shes had the patience of a saint, and I am but one of our crazy crew of volunteers. Ive known Lauren since her first camp in the fall of 2009, when she came on board to help with music therapy duties, and shes been part of the scene ever since. Its been a challenge for all of us to adjust to the growing pains it requires to build a successful non-profit organization, and the paperwork alone is staggering. To carry on our mission of lifting and empowering stroke survivors and caregivers is more than just showing up for a camp weekend. It requires countless hours of planning and dedication, and Lauren continues to sort through it all. So, happy birthday to our Girl Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday … :-) Love you!
