We had a parent call us today in regard to one of the cribs we loan out.The hospital rep told them it was not safe, and that they would need to purchase a full size crib... This is what we were told from Cribs for kids today. (our partner agency we get the majority of our cribs from) ~We could not do what we do if the unit were not a safe and acceptable sleeping environment for babies. The American Academy of Pediatrics magazine Pediatrics. page 1032, section 2.a., the AAP specifically refers to Playards as being an acceptable form of a crib. In fact, you will see a comment at the end that refers to organizations that will provide them at no cost for people with financial constraints -- they are referring to Cribs for Kids! pediatrics.aappublications.org/content/early/2011/10/12/peds.2011-2284.full.pdf+html ~The second link is the CPSC Safety Standard for Playards. cpsc.gov//PageFiles/129781/playyards.pdf On the first page, section B. The Product, lists the playard as a ‘‘framed enclosure that includes a floor and has mesh or fabric sided panels primarily intended to provide a play or sleeping environment for children. It may fold for storage or travel.’’ ~Lastly a link to the Graco Product Reliability statement provided on our website, indicating that the CPSC listed the Graco Pack n Play as the safest unit.. cribsforkids.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/Graco-Product-Reliablility.pdf We also would like to share CPSCs announcement of the 2013 Chairmans Circle of Commendation Award winners, for which Judy Bannon received the award for her work with Cribs for Kids.
