We had a successful GIDAF meeting on Saturday and I can boldly confirm the support we have out there is enormous. We also had a chance to get some information regarding the roads, bursaries and later the good news about the Mukurwe-ini Technical Training Institute from the CDF officials. ROADS The issue of Gikondi Yetu roads is still something we should concentrate on. I understand that there are different roads classifications and that’s why the Road 2000 project by KERRA will start from Gakindu-Gikondi-Muthuthi-ini passing through Kibutio. Don’t expect tarmacking. The is no information regarding the pathetic road which connects Mukurweini town and Gikondi ward that passes through Mukurwe-ini hospital to Nduma and then to Kiharo.Fellow Gikondians, the battle is still on. Even after the un-tarmacked road from Gakindu, Gikondi will still remain landlocked. EDUCATION Kaharo secondary school will be upgraded from a mixed day school to a Girls boarding school. Ksh.14.2 million have been allocated for the upgrade. The issue of bursary allocation was raised but it will be an agenda for our next meeting after gathering views from wananchi. SECURITY Also from our news desk, we have noted with concern that after Karaba police post was upgraded to a police station ,the governor Hon Nderitu Gachagua provided them with a motor vehicle to be used by the OCS and the policemen at the station. Unfortunately the car is being used by the Traffic police near Kagumo Teacher’s College along Mukurwe-ini-Nyeri highway but with the name KARABA POLICE STATION.My/Our(GIDAF’s) question is ,is it serving the purpose? KAHARO MARKET We are liaising with the county Govt for more information regarding the idle space and soon the space shall be used by the hardworking men and women from Gikondi to generate some income. CONCLUSION We have organized a meeting on 27th December at Muthuthi-ini. Venue will be confirmed later. It is for the citizens with the interests of Gikondi in their hearts and thus politicians should keep off politics. All the stake holders from Gikondi are invited. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. MERRY XMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
