We had a wonderful turnout for the meeting tonight. We filled Council Chambers and spilled out into the hallway. We were told from the git-go that there would not be a vote on the contract tonight, and the Council did seem attentive during the public comment period. Thank you to everyone who came and a special thank you to those who spoke. You all came across as intelligent, respectful people who care deeply about the future of Bar Harbor. Several people suggested that there should be a public hearing (or meeting if you prefer that word) to air thoughts about the renewal of the Town Managers Contract. I believe that thought peaked the interest of more than one Councilor. I will be emailing the Council to encourage them to schedule a time to hear what people want to say. If you feel that this is a good idea, please email the Council and let them know. Thank you!
