We had another earthquake? I must have been in Ambienland. - TopicsExpress

We had another earthquake? I must have been in Ambienland. Okay. Lets get something straight. (My soapbox for the day!) I am soooo tired of hearing about this. I just read a crazy comment from someone on News9 or News 4 or something. The oil and gas companies need to pay for my earthquake insurance. REALLY? This really gets on my nerves, because I am in the OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY. *sigh* FRACKING DOES NOT CAUSE EARTHQUAKES. EARTHQUAKES HAVE BEEN GOING ON looooong before the fracking process ever started. Hydraulic fracking doesnt even occur at the part of the earth where earthquakes happen. I work for engineers and I have had many conversations with them about this very subject. Saying this is about as insane as the people who say, I think gasoline should be 75 cents a gallon. Yes, I actually heard someone say that! You cannot even get oil out of the earth for seventy-five cents per gallon equivalent! LOL - that is the craziest things I have ever heard in my life. Anyway, I am NOT a scientist, but earthquakes happen on FAULTLINES. Plate tectonics. Has anyone ever had a science class? There is a natural fault that runs through Jones, OK. How many earthquakes are in California? They probably have them every day. There is probably less drilling in that state than anywhere. Hello. There are all kinds of crazy geographical things that happen that have nothing to do with drilling. And what is even funnier is that the people that complain about drilling, the environment, the price of gasoline, imported oil, know NOTHING about OPEC, how gasoline prices are set, refining, how much it actually COSTS to drill a well, why it costs so much to drill a well or what it takes to go out and FIND oil, and they keep on using gas-guzzlers or other products that are made from oil. Anytime you use a Ziploc baggie or a Tupperware container, yep - OIL! Thank you, I like that. You are paying my paycheck :) Im not really griping, I just find it humorous and how ignorant and misinformed some people really are. I think they just like to complain and they want to try to feel superior to other people. OH, brother. I have a cousin like this. My mom retired from Chesapeake Energy in February, and he calls her several times a week to gossip and taunt her with every bit of news he can find about any layoff or potential scandal he thinks he can find. Well, I am a stockholder and their stock is going up. Yea for me! Leave me alone ;) Anyway, on our way back from getting my moms puppy the other night, we saw FOUR wells being drilled in Logan County within one section. Im not sure I have heard of any earthquakes up there ;) I do feel bad for the people whose house IN JONES was sitting right on the fault line and pretty much caved in due to the earthquake. That was pretty sad. We felt that out at my house and my bed shook and my outer wall shook. Lily jumped out of bed and barked at the wall. It was pretty funny. So, I guess one of the bad things about Oklahoma is we have some of the highest property insurance of ANYWHERE. You better know where you live, get flood insurance if you are in a flood plane, earthquake insurance if you live in a fault area, and for Gods sake just HAVE INSURANCE because you never know when a tornado might blow through town! I am lucky I have never been hit by a tornado. But I do think our insurance companies suck! Pretty sure my insurance premium is going to be more than my mortgage payment! Argh! Thats all, folks!
