We had our first meeting today with our two new rookie FLL teams we are mentoring. Matt and Byron will be mentoring the Creators from Bridgepoint Elementary and Eanes Elementary while Kylar and Sidhu will be mentoring (wait for it) the Fire Breathing Polar Eagles. Each team has four students on it from the 4th and 5th grade. This project began as a proposal by Matt to start an FLL team for his neighbor across the street. It has now become two teams from three of our elementary schools. The teams will be meeting from 2-3 times a week at Westlake High School with the FRC students mentoring. Yes we are starting late but we are all excited to This is the beginning of our reach past the middle schools within the district. We piloted a program to start two middle school robotics programs two years ago and they were a huge success. Now both middle schools has classes, teachers who are invested in the program and contest teams. We also hope to include National Honor Society students in the mentoring of the two FLL teams.
