We have 3 apple trees in our yard. One very old apple tree that we have no idea what kind of apple it is. The other two are McIntosh and Golden Delicious apples. My kids and I decided to make a science experiment of sorts. We picked 2 pounds (+/-) of apples from every tree to make 3 separate bowls of baked apples. Each bowl had the exact same weight of apple and the same amounts of sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and squeezed lemon. We then took 3 samples and made their Dad perform a blind taste test on all three varieties. First so he could tell us his preference, and second if he could identify the apples. They all came out good, but he couldnt guess which apples came from which tree. Gotta love Science in the kitchen! After all, you get to eat your experiments! :-)
