We have a 9 month old purebred American Bulldog who is looking for a new home. Please dont judge until you have walked in my shoes. Im extremely heartbroken and have worked my ass off for months trying to fix these issues. She doesnt seem enthused with our kids at all. She gives them a stay away from me look when they walk by her. The breeder we got her from had small kids in the household so I dont know if she was tormented by these little kids or what. My biggest issue is that her and my other dog are getting into very serious fights on a DAILY basis. I have cuts and bruises from separating dog fights on the daily. She is NOT dog aggressive. She has been well socialized with other dogs from a very young age and we have never had an issue. But for whatever reason, her and our other dog do not mesh together (obviously all dogs have different personalities, just like all human personalities dont always work together). We took her to the beach all summer long off leash where she played with many other dogs, she did fine with other dogs in puppy classes, and she has always played well and gently with my parents little senior dogs. But because she is a bully breed, when her and my other dog get into these fights, they are serious and she has caused serious damage. Just yesterday she punctured my little dogs throat with a bite. I have experience separating dog fights from my past job and if I didnt have kids, Id continue to work on this but one of these days one of my kids is going to be seriously injured and I refuse to let this situation come to the point where that happens. I know there is a ton of judgement on rehoming animals. But I also know there would be a ton of judgement if one of my kids was hurt by a situation I couldve prevented. I am a mom first, an animal lover second. We are asking for a $400 NEGOTIABLE fee to ensure a good home. Shes well trained. She walks well on a leash, she is crate trained, she knows lay down, sit, come, stay, high five. She needs daily exercise as all dogs do but she loves to cuddle up at bed time and I often wake up to her spooning me with her paws wrapped around me. She would be best in a home with NO LITTLE KIDS. I think shed do great with older kids. Other dogs in the household would be okay but Id like to do a couple of meetings in both my home setting as well as yours to ensure theyll get along. She needs a fenced yard. She will hang out with you while you do yard work and wont run away if she gets out of the house. She seems to like men better than women. She was a singleton puppy so she likes to be centre of your world and is a true princess. Ive spent countless hours training her and working with her and shes a quick learner. I love this dog more than you will ever know and feel like Im stuck between a rock and a hard place having to make this difficult decision. Sorry for the long post but I feel whoever takes her should know every detail about her! Im not looking for opinions, just a loving, forever home for my girl.
