We have a Kenmore side by side refrigerator that we purchased from Sears several years ago. We are very frustrated with trying to purchase a replacement filter for the water system. Craig ordered the replacement filter on line using the very number he has used in the past when replacing it. This time the part came, it looked different. He tried putting it in. When the water starts going through it, the filter shoots out. It doesnt fit!!! He tries to return it to Sears in Eureka. They wont take it back in the store. So he calls and complains. They ask for the serial number off the fridge and the number off the filter. They say they will investigate what is going on. He gets a call back, that is the correct number for the replacement filter but the part has been changed! How can they change the part and use the very same serial number. So the only way to make the filter work is to order an adapter (or something) to make the newly changed filter fit. (We find out today, The adapter will cost $100.00!!) Why dont THEY have to be responsible to pay for that part to make the new filter work! It sounds like a gimmick to get more money out of us. It isnt right!! To top it off, UPS shows up today and delivers another filter!!! Craig calls and tells them we dont want any of it, and he wants all of it returned and all charges removed from out credit card! The guy tells him that we have to turn off the water to our fridge if we arent replacing the filter because it might break the ice maker!! Im thinking, forget that!! I will just use good old, UNFILTERED, Fortuna city water to run through my ice maker!!!!! Something is wrong with this picture!!!
