We have a story to tell about a dog in desperate need and two volunteers with determination & creativity. Meet Pinky. He is at a home with other dogs and an owner that is coming along slowly. This is truly an owner who just does not know better and cultural differences are at play. It took us a long time to build the trust of the owner, for them to allow us to help and every time we visit things get better! For instance.. Pinky. Our volunteers Alissa and Elsie needed to free Pinky from his life in isolation. Pinky spent almost all his time in that wooden box, or coop. He is tiny, but a coop is no where for a dog and no spirit can flourish with a life like this. So yesterday, Alissa and Elsie freed Pinky!! They used supplies they had, ingenuity, and hard work. These two amazing volunteers took a puppy play pen, sunk it into the ground, and dig proofed it using rocks and bricks (Pinky is just a little thing.) they added a super small igloo, lots of straw and a shade tarp. Its a BABY KENNEL!! FREEDOM FOR PINKY!! This little boy rolled and rolled in her straw, tail wagging and oh so happy! He also has a crate inside the garage for inclement weather and at night so that he is not stolen. We gave him a super cute pink harness, food, treats and as always lots of love. The owner was outside the whole time, cleaning the yard, helping, offering tools and all around happy to learn and be a part of Pinkys new life. This is amazing and we cannot be more proud of our volunteers! THANK YOU ALISSA AND ELSIE!!
