We have been studying the contrast between the sovereignty of God and our role in history as players to affect the events that unfold. To me this question is the question of all questions. This is the issue which has preoccupied some of the most brilliant thinkers on all sides of the issue of who is in charge on earth. God or man. I have concluded that we, as creatures, are not in charge. I am not offended by this realization. This realization to me, takes a lot of pressure off. It means to me that if we stop feeling so self important, we can instead feel like we are needed by others because of a plan that we do not devise and we are not solely responsible to carry out. Which to me at least, is a relief.
