We have had this in from a dogwatch follower and were sure he would welcome your support. Anyone else sick of inconsistent rules when it comes to being able to take dogs in to post offices? What valid reason would any post office have for not allowing dogs? What I encountered this morning was not acceptable, especially sudden change of rules. My post office in Southwick is normally dog friendly and allows dogs to go in. I was in there from 9.30am with my dog Casey while posting a few parcels, he got a lot of attention from the customers and everyone was happy. I forgot I still had a parcel to post so went back there again at 10am. This time the woman at the till in front of the shop said This is not allowed. I said what do you mean this? This and pointed to my dog. I told her we were in there half an hour ago and it was all dog friendly then. She replied manager said not allowed. It was definitely a sudden rule change, I then replied This is my dog Casey and he is not a object. Dont refer dogs as This and I wont be using your place every again. Its totally pathetic to have sudden rule changes, if there was a sign to say no dogs then I would understand. But because weve never had any issues in the past with bringing dogs in that particular post office, and not even at 9.30am, the sudden rule change seriously was unacceptable. This only shows a lack of consistency in rules and treating customers with disrespect. Not only were the customers queuing in line laughing and enjoying petting Casey. But it also lightened up the atmosphere of waiting. Its a real shame that dogs who have behaved really well and caused no harm are treated in such a way. There is no reason whatsoever that my dog was not allowed back in when he was allowed half a hour ago. This pathetic rule has got to stop, no consistency and disrespect to dog owners. Please share, and lets put a stop to this. Im aware that not all post offices do this but there should be a campaign to stop them changing rules out of the blue. Im even happy to do a demo outside this place to show my disappointment. For the record, we would be happy to support a demo.
