We have heavy hearts minds and these days as we think about what is happening in Palestine and Israel. From our NY coordinator Olivia Trinlas- thought: My heart breaks & is in outrage over the killing of Israeli and Palestinian children. This is a complicated situation that I dont think I can even begin to unravel in one status update. Sadly, the omission of the Palestina perspective has served to dehumanize and further devalue & diminish Palestinian lives. Israeli-state sanctioned military & psychological violence (largely funded by the United States), the politics of media and not being able to paint a full picture of the Israeli and Palestinian story because the news stories are controlled by those that are providing financial support, legal and state-funded Israeli settlements in Palestine have served as a means to disintegrate community, starting with the geographic and conceptual understandings of home... these are issues that have been ongoing and deliberate but are stories that have not viewed the violence in Israel and Palestine, from a Palestinian perspective. Hoping that in the coming days, there will be more international outrage of the very unbalanced perspective that I have been gathering from mainstream news outlets.
