We have learned the identity of the man who assaulted alleged murderer Steven Capobianco this past Sunday at MCCC in a case of mistaken identity which the warden and the Maui Police Department want to try to keep under wraps but with Capobiancos case being thrust into spotlight and the neck brace he was supporting in the courtroom today it was hard not to notice. The man whom authorities are looking into pressing charges against is Kaleo Kahewai, the brother of slain Molokai woman Malia Kahewai who was the victim of a gunshot by her boyfriend Marlin Lavoie who was at MCCC awaiting trial for her murder. According to our sources, Kahewai was targeting Lavoie for his sisters murder and didnt know that Capobianco sported a similar beard that Lavoie was sporting and proceeded to beat Capobianco with a cane. After MCCC guards broke up the skirmish, Kahewai was detained and Capobianco was taken to get treatment for injuries he suffered. No word yet on whether Kahewai will be charged in his assault on Capobianco
