We have returned from our three week vacation of Europe. We spent - TopicsExpress

We have returned from our three week vacation of Europe. We spent time in Luxembourg, Normandy, Paris, and then had a two week Iberian Pennisula Shrine tour of catholic sites. We were in Santiago De Compestella, Fatima, Lourdes, St Theresa of Lisseuix, St Teresa of Avila, and also saw one or two large and beautiful churches each day. We attended mass at Notre Dame in Paris, Lourdes, Fatima, and the home of St. Ignatius of Loyola. It was a very enjoyable and inspiring trip. The attached picture is of our distant cousins in Luxembourg. The lady in pink is our cousin Tilly Gengler. The man in blue is our cousin Marcel Linck (his mother was a Gengler) and his wife Ramona. Ramona is very interested in family history and supplied me with more family information. They shared interesting history about Genglers and the French Revolution. The also shared information about the WW II occupation and Gengler protection of young men from subscription into the German army. The battle of the Bulge was very near Esch. We visited roadside historical signs about the battles and even walked into a wooded area that still has discernible foxholes. Later I will share more information about family history. The other photo is the alter in the church attended by our great-great grandfather Peter,in Esch-sur-Sure, Luxembourg. It was built in 1806 and Peter immigrated to the US in 1857. I also have pictures of cemetery stones of our relatives. There is so much to share about our trip and its certainly good to be back.
