We headed off from Ashville North Carolina today and went to the Chimney Rock State Park and were pleased we did. We saw Hickory Nut Falls and then into the park about 1 mile, an elevator takes you up 26 stories to the steps that then go to the viewing area over Lure Lake. The skies were relatively clear and Rod decided to climb higher and catch the elevator back down while I walked down the stairs. Both of us got caught in fairly heavy rain. We decided that would do for walking as we were fairly wet and would head to Charleston SC. We drove on and off through rain, stopping at a rest place about 2 hours from our destination. Lucky we did as we were informed that we were heading towards a tornado watch area, which would be active until about 10pm. So we took the next exit, found accommodation for the night and relaxed for the rest of the day. Hopefully we can get through to Charleston tomorrow and then down to Florida.
