We in Eugene Oregon have panhandling on just about every street corner! Its everywhere! A woman was begging for 50 cents outside the Dollar tree in Springfield Oregon. It made me mad at the time that she was being told no by everyone including my own boyfriend. So I paused and listened to her story. It was a doozy. She needed to call so and so on a payphone because Her boyfriend beat her and left her stranded. It went on but thats the gist. So I just was upset that everyone said no to only freakin 50 cents. So I asked my man if he had any. He had a quarter. I said come to our car,I help ya out. I gave her another quarter. Then she said thank you and went to her bicycle. She claimed that some guy gave her a bike to get around. She just stood there at her bicycle. Then it occurred to me.... couldnt she just ask to use a phone? Why was she just hanging out with her bike and not going to make a call? I was tempted to let her use my cell. But, then Im thinking that she probably gave me a big crap load of lies. I didnt feel taken or anything. I just was glad it was only .50 cents.
