We joke in the Hawkins family that we should boycott all holidays because they always seem to bring bad news, especially Thanksgiving. Eighteen years ago yesterday we lost our grandma. Eighteen years later on the exact day, we lost one of the funniest people I knew, our uncle Bob. Its hard to be thankful this time of the year. Its times like this that bring family closer, but its times like this I wish we could always be close. Uncle Bob was an amazing husband, father, uncle, grandpa and matchmaker. If it wasnt for him, my parents would never have met. Im not sure why he let his best friend take out his sister, but after thirty-four years of marriage, I have him for trusting my father in the 70s...yikes. I will always feel a special bond as my mother chose to name me after a true hero. You will truly be missed, Uncle Bob. May you rest peacefully and give grandma a giant hug for us.
