We just got home from the Special Olympics Region 8 Spring Games Swimming Competition, held here in Thunder Bay at the LU Pool. This was Kaleigh’s first competition. She was sick most of the week so we weren’t sure what her stamina was going to be like but she did great. She swam in three heats - 25 Meter Freestyle (2nd place), 25 Meter Backstroke (2nd place) and 50 Meter Backstroke (3rd place). Tonight we celebrate at the banquet dinner and dance…..(and if you’ve never been to a Special Olympics dance before you are missing out on one crazy party). Kyra got some video of Kaleigh swimming….we’ll try to get those posted soon! She had quite the cheering section in the viewing balcony. Big thanks to Wayne Brady for the awesome Go Kaleigh Go poster which will be proudly displayed for all to see.
