We just lost a family memeber suddenly. My moms brother, he was only 46. This poem is for my mama. I Love My Mama By Matthew Pollock She sleeps so soundly Even with problems are overabounding Her strength, which I have had to see, in order to believe Thank you God for my loving mommy. I could never repay you, or her For the tender love and unending care she’s given I wish instead of her … I could carry the pain Always, has my mom’s charity and kindness been genuine and pure. Finding myself in awe Of how she perseveres in the face of trial and tribulation She smiles lovingly, instead of succumbing to tears When I know myself … I would have resigned long ago. I would have wandered far, far away But when I see my mommy’s faith All I can do is stop and pray Then the answer comes and I act, then my problems go away. My mom shares wisdom with me in stories such as these: “If you want to make an omelet, you got to break the eggs.” “You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.” God, I would be a lesser man, had it not been for hearing these things. I ask you Lord, yet another favor Please ease her burden and loosen her yoke God, you’ve tried her in the holy furnace of your justice She has emerged alive and whole … not dying and broke. Cancer almost claimed her life twice She believed you were close when she had to suffer Hear me Lord and the prayers of a loving son Tell me, what is it that I can offer? Make her tears cease … tears I’ve seldom seen and don’t want to count Let me pass on to her your sanctifying consolation Surpassing any prior attempts I’ve made in any amount Take her tears … change them to music as they fall. Change our family’s heartbreaks into smiles We will praise you Lord, forever The whole while: serving, dancing, loving and praying Lord I love my mama, you know this … give her what she needs, amen.
