We just wanted to share the details of Limb Loss Awareness Day! Have a great weekend from all of us at Artificial Limb Specialists! Here is a message from Lise and the Lively Limbs Amputee Support Group: Greetings! Limb Loss Awareness Day! Saturday, April 26th 2014 Arizona Mills Mall Food Court 1:00-3:00 pm Please join us as we meet for lunch at Arizona Mills Mall for Limb Loss Awareness Day! We will gather at the food court to have lunch together-everyone will select and purchase their own food. Then as a group we will take a walk/roll around the mall to raise awareness about amputation. You do not have to be ambulating (walking) or be using a prosthesis. If you come in a wheelchair-we will push! If you need assistance getting from the parking lot-let us know. For those amputees who wear a prosthesis-please wear shorts or a skirt to let everyone see it! SHOW YOUR METTLE (METAL) DAY! For family and friends, please join us and to show your support wear an odd legging on one leg. A colored stocking, brightly patterned sock, or leg warmer (do they still make these?) on one leg to draw attention to your leg. This is to emulate (copy) what it might feel like to be an amputee and have people staring at you! SHOW YOUR SUPPORT! I would like to have an idea of how many can make it-so please RSVP. The Amputee Coalition encourages people to take and post pictures on their FaceBook. Any funds raised or donations accepted will go towards the Amputee Coalition YOUTH CAMP. They are in need of additional funds for all the children on the waiting list to attend camp completely free of charge-including airfare! Cost per child is ~$1800.
