We keep losing our newsroom editorial assistants to promotion! This time our editorial assistant Chris Houck is moving on to a reporting position at our sister paper in Northfield. That means we have a full-time opening for someone interested in writing, who knows our community and who enjoys interacting with the public. Heres the job posting: The editorial assistant position is the lynchpin that holds the Daily News newsroom together. The editorial assistant serves as administrative assistant to the managing editor and other staff members as assigned. Duties will include gathering web-only content that will increase the audience of the newspaper’s website, as well as write briefs, maintain the calendar and interact with the public visiting the newspaper. The right journalist will also get opportunities to report and write. Qualifications: - Four-year post-secondary degree in journalism or a related field, or comparable practical experience in a work environment. - Technical competence with Word and Web-based content management. - Video and photography skills a significant plus.
