We knew that Baker had been abused by someone with a distinctive smell, based on how he had reacted to a particular stranger at a Food Bank event the first winter we owned him. We thought perhaps that the abuser was a smoker, but hes met plenty of other smokers without having the same kind of meltdown we witnessed earlier. Dear Hubby usually has a glass of wine with dinner, but tonite he made Margaritas. He put the drinks on the coffee table. Baker wandered into the room and began to sit down next to the couch. But suddenly he got back up, tucked his tail between his legs and went into the bedroom. That wasnt far enough away, apparently...hed started down the stairs when I caught up with him. I put his collar an leash on him and took him outside to potty. When we returned, I left the leash on him, sat down, and held out one of the Margaritas for him to smell. He got the most miserable look in his eyes, grabbed the leash in his teeth and tried to drag me out of the living room. I guess its good to know what flips his sad switch...Im very glad hes outta there. I wonder if any of his littermates react the same way...?
