We know Police are using extremely heavy-handed means to subdue people, who in many cases dont deserve that treatment (e.g. taser, choke-hold, beating and shooting). We are aware that racism still exists. We know the Police use racial profiling. We hear from Policemen/women that they are forced by supervisors to make quotas on everything from speeding tickets to stop n frisks. We see that they do enforce laws, but also appear to flaunt their ability to break laws. We see the NYC policy to harshly punish small-time offenses in order to curb the Gateway Drug philosophy that Murder is next on their agenda failing miserably. Society may be broken, but empowered, entitled, brutal policing is not the answer.
