We know what is possible with homeopathy. The remedy will bring to order the function of the life force so that then the body will repair/regenerate itself to its optimum. It is important to remember that the remedy corrects the imbalance, but then the repair that follows it NOT an action of the remedy but the action of the life force acting through that individual. It uses the functions and mechanism we are aware of from our study of physiology — digestion, detoxification, hormone and prostoglandin production, cell division, etc. The entire process of recovery is “counting on” that availability of needed nutrients and the absence of any obstacles that will interfere with this physiological process. So I am making a distinction between the life force correction and the physiological response that follows. Not that they are unconnected, but pointing more to the necessity of the building blocks required for the regeneration. So we homeopaths are constantly challenged with a culture that ignores these factors, that constantly is generating substances that interfere and putting them into our environment. It is truly an act of insanity, an insanity on the social scale that allows some of us to poison the environment we all share. It is not just we human beings that are affected but all the animals, insects, plants, microbes, that share this planet with us. One wonders how such an arrangement could have come into existence? How could it be allowed that, for example, your neighbor is making batches of poison that get into your yard, your air, your home — since of course they are not confined to just the originating yard. Can you imagine the uproar? Do you realize how quickly that person would be stopped? Then how could the same thing be done by corporations? How can they be allowed to develop and sell products that are, without question, getting into our soil, water, air and that have been shown to have harmful effects — how can this be allowed? Why is there no one to stop it? The latest news on this cuts deeply into something, we veterinarians concerned with the best nutrition, have counted on. How many of us have encouraged better feeding of dogs and cats by telling our clients to get naturally raised livestock? Sure, organic preferable but rare and expensive, so most end up looking for “grass fed” cattle or other livestock as a meat source. At least they are not fed genetically modified corn or other grains, they often are not given all the chemicals usual in the industry. No more. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, has created, and getting ready for market a genetically modified Roundup Ready” grass. If this is done, then “grass fed” will not have the same meaning and that option will no longer be available to our clients. Even if some farmers don’t want to use it, if we go by the example of other GMO crops, the grass will spread all over the world without it being intentionally planted. I venture to say that there are likely no veterinarians, or very, very few, that would recognize the effects of livestock feeding on GMO grass, or the sickness of dogs and cats eating meat from animals fed on pastures regularly sprayed with Roundup. We can hope that the health disturbances will be ones we can recognize as corresponding to remedies available to us now. But this is all new territory, isn’t it?
