We left for Weisdale Voe to see the whale at first light this morn to find it swimming calmly/listlessly up and down and round and round. It also stranded very briefly on the Cott side of the voe and quickly thrashed itself off.....As I am sure you all know this is not normal behaviour and there is no denying the whale is in distress. We returned home to feed the otters and then went back to Weisdale. At first we couldnt see it but are now told it is riding out the storm in the middle of the voe. It leaves us feeling quite helpless but to be honest there is not a lot anyone can do. If it strands, which is what often eventually happens in this sort of sad scenario then all we can do is to help it die as peacefully and comfortably as possible. These creatures know how to die and they can teach us a lot from that tho it is distressing to watch. Saying that, miracles can happen.
