We live in a day and age that increasingly seeks to remove God - TopicsExpress

We live in a day and age that increasingly seeks to remove God from existence. There is an abundance of various doctrines and philosophies that promote the idea that God is not real, and that life is simply the affects of random accidents that took place over impossible periods of time. Much of the scientific community has looked to space to try to prove many of their blasphemous theories. This is an ironic approach seeing that the Bible teaches that the heavens the glory of God. While it might be difficult to understand this Bible truth today, the Bible is sure to teach that one day, the glory and power of God will be clearly seen through the cosmos. In Revelation 6:12-17 the scriptures describe some terrifying events. Revelation 6:12-17 documents the events that take place as a result of Jesus opening the 6th seal of the scroll of the title deed to earth. The apostle John wrote that when he saw Jesus open up the 6th seal that there was a terrible and violent earthquake that seemingly shook the entire planet at once. He described that the opening of the 6th seal caused the sun to blacken and the moon to turn to blood. The apostle John wrote that in addition to these cosmic anomalies, the stars also began to fall to the earth as a fig tree drops its unripe figs when shaken by a high wind. The apostle John wrote that as these things took place, it appeared as if the sky was being separated like a scroll that was once rolled up, and the affects of these things happening resulted in every mountain being moved from its place on earth! There are a couple of important points to consider here. First, the timing of these events is explained in other places in the Bible that describe this same galactic event. Joel 2:10, Isaiah 2:19, Matthew 24:29, and Luke 21:25 all testify of these exact same events happening, and all of them connect these events to the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. Therefore, while Jesus has opened the 6th seal in just a short time in heaven, the amount of time that has elapsed on the earth has been close to the full 7-year period of the Tribulation. Many of the events described in the later portions of the Book of Revelation fit within the time frame described in chapter 6 and 7. The second point that is important to consider is that each event described in Revelation 6:12-17 is related as cause and effect. Though the apostle John wrote of the earthquake first, many scholars and Bible teachers agree that the phenomenon that takes place in space is likely the cause of such a great earthquake. Many speculate that the meteor shower that is described as falling stars would cause the earth to spin off its axis so that the whole earth would wobble. This could very easily cause a global earthquake that is capable of changing the topography of the planet. It is described that the sun also turns black so that many scientists agree that if something were to happen to the sun as described in the scriptures, the gravitational organization of our galaxy would be affected and could cause the dramatic meteor shower that is described. The third point is that this is the 5th time in scripture from both the Old and New Testament that this event is mentioned. This confirms that this even will take place. God does not repeat Himself in ways like this for possibilities. The fourth point that one must consider is that it is the work of Jesus that is causing these things to happen. Again, though the world seeks to remove God from life, and seeks to point to space as evidence that God is not real, the preparation for Jesus return to the earth will cause the galaxy to respond. The heavens truly will declare the glory of God! The sun, moon and stars all respond to the power and majesty of the Messiah King who is the Son of God - Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches that the universe fits in the span of Gods hand, and such authority and power is proven as Jesus prepares to return to the earth and the cosmos responds in the violent manner that it does. The fifth point to consider is the response of the people on earth towards these incredible events. Revelation 6:12-17 states that all of the kings and other authority figures, including military commanders and the rich/influential will seek to hide from God. Revelation 6:12-17 states that even the poor will join the worlds leaders and powerful people to hide from God in caves and in the rocks amongst mountains. Consider that after a catastrophic global even such as described, the planet will have plenty of places that serve to be caves and new mountain-type formations that people could try to seek refuge in. The problem with this testimony is that the Bible describes all these people seeking to hide from God rather than repenting and seeking forgiveness of God. Revelation 6:12-17 states that these people will say and hope that the rocks Fall on us and hide us from the face of the One seated on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb, because the great day of His wrath has come and who is able to stand? The people of the world that make it through this point of the Tribulation period are seen confessing Gods authority and position. The Bible states that these people will acknowledge Jesus as being the cause of these global events. Nevertheless, these people will not seek Gods mercy, grace and forgiveness. As the Bible documented Pharaoh hardening his heart in the Book of Exodus, these people will also have hardened hearts to try and hide from the God who affects and controls the galaxy and causes it to fall on earth as a form of His judgment. This testimony is really sad and just doesnt make sense. The foolishness of sin is candidly displayed in this portion of scripture. The Bible teaches that the fool says in his heart, there is no God. The troubling part of Revelation 6:12-17 is that the people admit the existence of God, and attribute the judgment on earth as the wrath of the Son of God, yet they will not turn to Him for mercy and forgiveness. So many people even today know deep down that God is real, that Jesus died for the sins of the world, and that His righteousness is available as Gods gracious gift, but will not accept it for what ever reason. The Bible clearly shows the dangers of human stubbornness and the extent of pride that lies within our hearts. The people in Revelation 6:12-17 will confess global catastrophe as the work of God, but then think they can hide from such a great and powerful God in some rocks. It just doesnt make sense. Nevertheless, this is the folly of natural human habit in sin. Lord, help us to rely on You to remove this foolishness from us. Help us not to reflect the demeanor and conduct of those described in Revelation 6:12-17. Help us to acknowledge Your identity and work now and entrust ourselves to You in order that we would be saved from this wrath that You will pour out. Thank You that Your Word promises that Your children are not appointed to wrath so that those who are Yours in faith will not have to experience the horrors of sins consequence. Lord, help us to live as You, apart from sin, to show we appreciate the gift of grace that You gave, and that as You are powerful enough to control the galaxy, You are powerful enough to keep us from the sin that kills us. God bless yall! --Bside--
