IF THIS WERE IN A BIG CITY, THERE WOULD BE BIG LINES” ....Reviewed October 16, 2013 First of all, High Springs is definitely small town USA. And I must admit, I love big city food. Great Outdoors is high end all the way! A stunningly beautiful interior is in itself worth the 15 minute trip from I-75. Nothing tacky or overdone, its seriously museum quality true Florida photos, canoes, and really expensive paddles on display. The lighting is perfect! Ive only had one meal there (lunch), and it was nicely done with quality ingredients. I even liked the home made pickle. The bar is a pro set up, sparkling clean, and adds to the ambiance enticing one to loosen up and have a mixed drink. For tourist/travelers, Great Outdoors Restaurant would certainly be a memorable stop, and the small town experience of High Springs is one of the better ones in Florida. Ill bet that after a week of the plastic world of mouse ears and Orlando snobbishness, you will stop here on the way home for a reality check..... and some great food ! Its a true gem.
