We loved Marys recap of her most special Blues Fest memory and wanted to share it with you: ...hearing the music, sweet funny words of love and wisdom from Phoebe Snow. She had a great sense of humor too...quick witted, humble and completely un-self conscious. Stuff you never hear from the stage. When she sang, those vocal cords threw piercing, rich, crystal clear notes of passion across the river. She kept interrupting her set with little stories about her time off and missing performing and taking care of her special needs daughter. She had a wicked wit. The music was incredible! Simply delicious and the audience gave her MUCH more love and hooting and We love you, Phoebe!! than she expected. Some of the greatest names are sometimes reflecting that they perform so much, they really do just phone it in. NOT PHOEBE! At one point she said (after getting SO much love), MAN! If I had known you-all were so awesome I woulda made it out here sooner! She gave us an extra song or 2 and when it ended I just couldnt let the experience, go. I laid on the grass and stared at the river and just imprinted the whole thing forever in my memory. In 2011 she died. She was one of the most talented, genuine, down to earth performers weve had. AND WHAT A VOICE!!
