We meet Nathaniel once when Emily had a visit at NYUs institute for reconstructive plastic surgery. We were in the waiting room and I chatted with his father. At the time, he was playing on his DS and when he saw Emily he said why is she here? She doesnt need to be here. I explained about her cleft. His dad told me that hed had about 45 surgeries (he was about seven). He was wearing a cage screwed to his skull that day but still managed a smile.
