We met with the Department and they really cant tell us why they took the children from our home and placed them in a home where they are sure to endure a life of abuse and neglect. We loved them and cared for them for two years, ten months, and seven days. We were promised we would be allowed to adopt them, but that never happened. The head of IDHW cant possibly conceive that the case workers made an error as he stated he has been up and down this state and none of his social workers would ignore children on their case loads. My claim was no one has ever talked to these children about how they are, what they want, or even knew them. The Department would not make such a horrific mistake. He feels our experience is not typical of how people feel about the department. He said he knew the workers involved personally and they would never harm children. So I create this page hoping to find out he is right. That are children are the only ones hurting because of what the department did. Please leave your messages about your involvement with the foster care system. Please no childrens names as we want to protect their confidentiality. I feel foster children should have rights, what should they include? How do you think the Department is doing?
