We must not stand idly by as Lorettas experiences as an indigenous - TopicsExpress

We must not stand idly by as Lorettas experiences as an indigenous woman are trivialized, denied, misrepresented, or eliminated. We dont have an Indian problem in Canada. We have a settler problem. A problem with white people like myself. And its white people like me who must have those difficult conversations with family and friends, must teach ourselves what we were never taught, must be ready to feel uncomfortable, must be ready to stand side-by-side with and take the lead from the same indigenous peoples who we have been taught to disregard, devalue, and dehumanize. Its time to stop wringing our hands and looking to the authorities to make change. We have seen the devastation that our governments have wrought on indigenous communities, too often with our (silent) support. What will we do to stop the violence? huffingtonpost.ca/darryl-leroux/loretta-saunders-indigenous-_b_5007672.html
