We need to debunk this myth that the ALR drives up housing prices. - TopicsExpress

We need to debunk this myth that the ALR drives up housing prices. Its total nonsense that housing prices would drop if developers could just get at that farmland (as evidenced by the considerable amount of farmland given to developers over the past 15 years - like the Tsawwassen Golf Course housing development that produced very high end condos). If the ALR didnt exist, what would they blame? The only way the ALR contributes to high housing prices is that it provides features that vastly enhance the quality of life in this province: gorgeous rural landscapes, healthy, fun & educational agrotourism, and an abundance of fresh, healthy, local food and beverages. The housing industry and all of its affiliates should get down on their knees and kiss the farmland that helps line their pockets. And all levels of government need to suck it up, drag developers to the table and once and for all address the issue of housing affordability.
