We never thought we would have to make a posting such as the one we are now. But very sadly we do. Todd was NOT thrown or bucked from a horse as the newspapers, TV news channels, radio, and gossip have stated. If you are a horse person, you understand the terms used below. If not, then please ask a horse person to explain them to you or please Google them. Here are the outlined facts: Was the horse Todd riding a fresh/green broke..YES. Was the horse Todd riding a wild mustang..NO. Was the horse Todd riding a bucking bronc..NO. There was NO rodeo. The horse Todd was riding was crow hopping as horses sometimes do. Todd did his one rein stop, the horse lost its footing on some medium to large rocks and large pieces of clay in the weeds. The horse buckled onto its front legs to the point where both front legs where under its body and its face/forehead hit the ground, spooking it. The horse continued tying to regain its footing in the rocks/clay but was struggling. Todd was trying to direct the horse to more stable ground. (Todd didnt know there was unstable footing in the tall weeds). Todd did his best while keeping his wits to help the horse out of that bad situation. But some where in the process of it all is when he fell from the horse. The horse could have stepped on him after he fell but chose to jump out of the way to avoid him while still struggling to regain its footing. Once the horse was on stable ground, it made its way to a stall in the barn. Does this tragic event make Todd a horrible rider or trainer...NO. Does this make the horse some sort of uncontrollable wild beast..NO. This was truly a freak and terrible accident. We all take risks daily just in a different shape and form such as driving to work, riding a motorcycle, enjoying an ATV, hunting. ect. Life is full of daily risks and unpredictable events. Does that stop anyone of us from doing those things...no. If anyone has any further inquires, please dont hesitate to ask us.
