We often talk about, and lament, the disappearance of some of the places we remember in our memories of childhood. Well, I’ve done some “virtual traveling” recently, via Google Maps “street view”, and wandered around areas of West Covina and Covina where I spent a lot of time. I was surprised that I actually found several places that still exist from my childhood days in the 60’s. In most cases the businesses have changed, but at least the buildings are still there. It was fun to rediscover these places without actually driving there, and I “snapped” a few current pictures along my journey. So, I’ll post some of them, and see if some of you have memories of these places back in the “golden olden days.” Here’s the old-style International House of Pancakes building, still at its Citrus location. It has the modern “IHOP” sign instead of the original spelled-out version, but the building is exactly the same with its original A-Frame design . . . except that the color scheme is a little different. It’s amazing to me that it’s still operating in the same location nearly fifty years after I last ate there!
