We outlined a few key concepts in the meeting, such as attendance, dedication, our year schedule, and information about tournaments. We would like for members to attend every meeting, which will be held every Friday at lunch, in room 126. Come prepared with enthusiasm, questions, and lots of energy :) We also need your dedication for this team to work well. Debate is not another class at lunch, its more so of a free environment in which we can learn (yes, learn) together, but also have fun! Our schedule is not finalized, but we will be having debates (almost) every week, as well as tournaments throughout the year. More information on the latter will follow. If you would like to sign up for any future tournaments (date and time not finalized yet), you must get into a group of four, and divide yourselves as 2 pro people, and 2 con people. For each group of 4, you need a judge, who can be anyone 18 or over. We are giving you advance notice on this tournament info b/c we find it is better for you to tell your relatives, parents, or even siblings about judging from now on, so they know what it is. We also have 4 positions any person in debate team can try out for : Social Conveners (2 of them) and Event Conveners (2 of them as well) and also (NOT MENTIONED IN MEETING) A Graphic Designer (1) Social Convener should be time efficient, organized, and prompt. Event Convener should be prompt, organized, and responsible. Remember that you need a variety of skills for each position, and these are not limited by the ones listed above.
