We received a voicemail from borough secretary, Lee Kunkle, telling us that Tony Quattro (the forester who inspected the job/found violations written in the Trib and helped us ward off logging in 2005) talked to Carl Weaver (owner of the logging outfit), outlined what had not been done right and what needed done to fix things. Carl has agreed to return to the park next week to clean up the mess left behind and to fix the violations outlined in Tonys report. They will not be taking any trees out of the park, just cleaning up and fixing things. Someone on council wisely thought to alert the community beforehand and asked that we get the word out. He also said that July 25 is the deadline for folks to submit their applications for the oversight committee and that a meeting will be held at 6:30 on July 28 where the committee will be selected. This is a win. We wanted forestry oversight, which we have in Tony, and we dont have to come up with a way to clean up the entire mess.
