We received this from Mark Snay, Thompson Historical Society Head Researcher and Archivist. His brother Eric was a graduate of TMHS Eric Snay was born 4/11/1970 in Putnam, CT. He graduated from TMHS in 1988 (?). While there, he played soccer and baseball. He joined the U.S. Air Force after graduating TMHS and was based in Idaho after completing basic training. He was sent to Saudi Arabia just before the Desert Storm began. He sent his family a video telling them he was being deployed overseas, but could not give any details. Mark remembers his familys worry, not knowing where he was located, when the war started. After completing his initial enlistment, he worked as a reserve Air Policeman at Westover AFB. He eventually secured a position with the MBTA Police. He graduated from the MA Police Academy, spent a few years with them and then moved on to the Auburn, MA Police Dept. He was diagnosed with glioblastoma brain cancer in Aug. 2001 and passed away in March of 2002. He lived long enough to see his son Luke born in Nov. 2001. He also has a daughter, Emily, she was a year and a half old when Eric passed away. The photo of him in his uniform on the flight deck was taken in Riyadh, where he was stationed during his part in Desert Storm. The photo was published in the book The Real Heroes Specialy Press 991 - photography by Randy Jolly. Eric was certainly one of Thompsons and TMHSs best!
