We recently discovered two local restaurants worth mentioning. First, On the River Tavern. We took my daughter out for her birthday and it also happened to be Veterans Day. The service was exceptional and the food was excellent even though it is mostly a bar food type place. The portions are big, the quality is great, and the flavor was fantastic! I had the fish and chips and my husband had the perch sandwich. They gave my husband his meal entirely free of charge for being a veteran and they brought my daughter a huge sundae. Their beer selection is also great. Second place that we have actually fallen in love with is The Livery! We had so much fun a few weeks ago when we accidentally went on trivia night! It was packed and some really nice people from the power plant let us sit with their group. It was such a great night amongst very welcoming strangers. The beer is top notch and the food reminds me of home. Their pizzas all have interesting combos that are very unique and unlike your typical pepperoni. We went back last night and it was just as good even though it was less busy. We ordered the pork belly as an app and the mushroom and goat cheese flatbread. There were so many different kinds of delicious mushrooms on it and the fresh thyme was a nice touch. So, I suggest trying these places out!
