We respectfully acknowledge the deaths of the following residents, current or former: Obituaries Mercedes Concannon, at 84 A memorial Mass will be celebrated Sunday for Mercedes [Arriola] Concannon, who died after a brief illness on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17. She was 84. Affectionately known to her many friends as Mrs. C., she was the loving mother of John and Michael Concannon; and the grandmother of Brittany, Michel, and Joseph. Mrs. Concannon volunteered at Wellspring for many years and was an active member of the Scully Senior Center. Staff there say she was always willing to lend a hand. Her memorial Mass is scheduled for Sunday at 11 a.m. at St. Ann’s Church in Hull. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made to the Scully Senior Center, 197A Samoset Ave., Hull, MA 02045. Robert F. Farrell, at 65 Robert Francis Farrell, 65, of Quincy and formerly of Hull, died March 14. Like his father, Mr. Farrell served in the US Marines Corps during the Vietnam War era, attaining the rank of lance corporal. He was a very smart man and he could learn to do anything he set his mind to, making him very versatile. He worked as a respiratory therapist, specializing in the neonatal units. He also spent some years running his own tree removal service. His travels were numerous and took him far, often in the company of his daughter, Christine, and youngest brother, John, creating memories they will never forget. He will be greatly missed by his daughter, Christine M. Farrell; her fiance, Ronald J. Penn of South Carolina; a granddaughter, Samantha R. Shockey of Rockland; his brothers, Raymond F. Farrell of Sandwich and John S. Farrell of Quincy; nephews Jason, Jeremy, and Daniel; and special friends, the MacKenzie Family. His funeral was held on Monday at the National Cemetery at Bourne. Elva Gould, at 89 Elva [Ettinger] Gould, 89, a lifelong Hull resident, died peacefully at Harbor House Nursing Home in Hingham on Friday, March 28, where she was cared for lovingly and compassionately during her 10-1/2 year battle with Alzheimers. Mrs. Gould remained full of life and retained her endearing sense of humor until the very end. She worked for many years as a cafeteria worker at the Damon School in Hull, as a poll worker for many town elections, and as a volunteer at South Shore Hospital. Mrs. Gould was a past president and treasurer of the local VFW Post 1787 Ladies Auxiliary, and remained a dedicated life member for 70 years. She loved her family and friends and always enjoyed entertaining in her home and candlepin bowling. She was an avid crossword puzzle fan. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Stanley Gould Sr., and a baby son, Stanley Jr. Mrs. Gould leaves her son Thomas and his wife, Denise, of Hull; son Gerard and his wife, Gloria, of Mooresville, NC; five grandchildren: Thomas Jr., Nicole, Gregory, Geoffrey, and Gina; several great grandchildren; and cousins, nieces, and nephews. Private services and burial will be held at The Hull Village Cemetery. For online guestbook, please visit downingchapel. Jan A. Scullane, at 71 Hull resident Jan A. Scullane, 71, died March 23. Beloved wife of the late Robert J. Scullane, she was the loving pet owner of Cody and River; adored and devoted family member and friend of Phyliss and Bill Aucoin, their sons Bill, Jack, daughter Marybeth Grieco, and in-laws Ruthie and Bill. Mrs. Scullane made the best arts and crafts and was Santa’s best-kept secret to grandchildren Ryan and Amanda Aucoin, and Brianna, Abbey, Madison, and Rebecca Grieco; and was a kind and loving friend to Robin and Tom Murphy and The Smith Family of London, England, as well as many others. A Mass to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, April 5 at 11:30 a.m. at St Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave., with a reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 440 Nantasket Ave., Hull. ∞
