We see Indira Gandhi in Priyanka. She should work with Rahul to lift the party, Thomas said. Like many other Congress leaders, Thomas too said that party Vice President Rahul Gandhi alone cannot be blamed for the poll debacle. Rahul is a young man doing hard work. You cant blame him alone. Its a collective failure, Thomas said. Thomas added that Priyanka should be brought into active politics not as Rahuls replacement but as a team with him. We feel if Priyanka comes in not as a replacement but comes in to help him will be good. Along with Rahul she also has to work. When there is a crisis, the entire family has to work. Everyone has to rise to the challenge, he said. We have seen how she works. We see Indira Gandhi in her, she is a great leader. They need to work out a way to give a role to Priyanka Gandhi. Priyanka and Rahul working together can give a new spark to the party, Thomas added. On the other hand, Thomas also called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a dictator. Its a one man show. Is it good for the country? Can the PM of the country function like a dictator? The way he is working gives rise to these apprehensions, Thomas said. He questioned Modis lavish swearing-in ceremony saying there was no need to invite foreign leaders. What was the need of spending so much money on Narendra Modis swearing-in ceremony? What is the purpose when the country is facing a financial turmoil. What was the point when Sri Lanka soon arrested 33 fishermen and our relations with Pakistan cannot be improved in a day, Thomas questioned.
