We see many warnings on products that we use all the time. Some are almost laughable. For example: 1) On a DuraFlame Fireplace Log there is a word of warning, “Caution, risk of fire!” 2) On a Batman costume there is a warning, “WARNING, cape does not enable user to fly!” 3) On a cardboard sunshield for a car, “Do not drive with sunshield in place.” 4) On a portable stroller, “CAUTION, remove infant before folding for storage!” ….simple instructions and we obey! GOD gives us HIS truth so that we can obey. Practically speaking though, how does one begin to obey GOD’s word when we have allowed disobedience to creep into our lives? 1) Don’t try to fix everything at once. That’s a recipe for frustration and disaster…just pick one area of your life where you need to become more obedient and take baby steps to get yourself there 2) Remember, whatever habit or behavior or attitude that needs to be corrected in your life probably took you a while to develop and it’s going to take you a while to conquer…so give yourself some grace in the process and, 3) Find someone to be your friend in this battle. Don’t try to do this on your own. Pick someone you know who will encourage you, hold you accountable, who will challenge you and remind you why you are doing what you are doing when the going gets tough…..because it WILL get tough. Pray….ask the LORD for courage….and dig in!
