We spent Saturday afternoon in the beautiful grounds of Houghall - TopicsExpress

We spent Saturday afternoon in the beautiful grounds of Houghall College in Durham. The sun shone and hundreds of people were sat around on picnic blankets. Lovely day for a picnic perhaps?.........WRONG! All of those families were gathered together to remember their children who had cruelly lost their lives to childhood cancers :( Over 300 names were called out, flowers were laid and balloons released. To hear just one name would be hard but over 300???....and thats just in our region. For each name read out, many more children are currently undergoing treatment for this vile disease. Not only are the treatments extremely harsh but these children miss out on just being kids.......they miss out on school, their friendships change and even if the treatments are successful, many are left with long term health issues. Childhood Cancers are the forgotten cancers.......people dont want to think about them as its too awful to imagine. I know I didnt want to think about it until it came very much uninvited and very, very unwelcome into our lives. Not only has childhood cancer robbed our very special, intelligent, funny, brave and very much loved little boy of his life, it has robbed us of our future too......all of our hopes and dreams were with Joseph. That is why I wont stop posting about the Future Fund until it becomes a reality! We desperately need this research centre and even it it stops just one more family going through the heartache that we have, and continue to, then its got to be worth it. PLEASE, PLEASE join in and donate however much you can to the campaign. Upload your childhood selfies and text your donation to NCFF01 £amount to 70070 or online via the Just Giving page at futurefund.co.uk Please nominate and share x I nominate Tracy Worrall, Zoe Emma Scott, Kayliegh Sullivan, Kate Atkinson, Katie Cairns, Julie Robson, Louise Heron x
