We sponsor a family who has just opened a bakery, Sweet Aromas, in a small village outside Fort Portal, Uganda. We are thrilled to hear it is thriving in such tough conditions! The first picture is the owners daughter standing next to the yellow can of water the family collected for the bakery. The second picture is taken right across the road from Sweet Aromas. It is a maize milling business - they turn maize into flour for the bakery. The men in the picture are all white because they are covered in flour from milling. Imagine their lungs! The third is the dining area. The shop used to be a garage car repair shop. Not enough cars in the village and so it went out of business. So they poured a layer of concrete on the floor, washed the walls, and now call it a bakery. Last picture is of Gerald, the proud owner of the bakery. He is so excited they just got electricity running so they now have an electric oven. Hes ecstatic and eager to learn how to use it.
