We started out our day meeting Kelly for lunch. Went to a great Mexican restaurant before we headed down to the marathon expo so that Kelly could get her race bib. Each bib has a microchip in it so that we will be able to keep up with her progress in the race! We covered many blocks in NY trying several modes of transportation. Found the elevator to the subway and went down but when we tried to get on a train, is was about 3 inches higher than the platform and about 5 inches away. The ticket agent told us to talk to the next conductor, so we did......he said this is all we got. They have some work to do on the subways ........if everything is to be accessible by 2015. The buses here are great and easy to use. They stop and lower a ramp , then they yell at anyone that trys to walk on the ramp. The ramp will hold a 460 lb chair but not a 150 lb person....Go figure. We only had one problem with a bus.........a driver stopped told everyone at the stop they could get on BUT the wheelchair. Said she was off, but she could transport everyone but us. I blew it off as we were dealing with an idiot, but Kelly wrote down the bus number, street and time. I have a feeling that bus drivers boss it about to get an earful! We traveled many city streets and Jon David was worn out from driving so much. (Maly and Henry he is getting a workout!) Kellys parents and twin sister got into town late this afternoon. We met them for dinner at The Smith, aRestaurant which was close to our hotel. We had a great meal then headed to our room. Not 30 min.after getting to our room, Jon David had his dad going back out to find him food. Being the great dad he is, Dave went out at 10:30 and brought him back pizza and a hot dog. His appetite is finally coming back! As the daylight began to fade all the goblins began to come out. First the small ones to trick or treat , then the later it got, the weirder and bigger they became. Apparently our hotel was having a Halloween party on the rooftop. There were some strange costumes lining up around the corner! Tomorrow we get to sleep in finally!! Then Jon David, Kellys mom Sheri and I get to attend a race luncheon with Kelly at 1:00. Dave and Kellys dad, Conrad, get to find their own mischief since Kelly can only have three guests at the lunch. Later we will be looking for some place to watch our hogs win! Our trip has been great so far, we are trying new things and getting to visit with some of our favorite people! Stay tuned...more to come! Much love! Jacki
