We started taking a monthly family photo to document our new puppy, Keagans first year as part of our family. Little did we know at the time we were documenting our senior girl, Annas last year. Keagans birthday is the 26th so we usually try to take it near that date. Annas birthday is November 28th. She will be 12. Ive never had one of my goldens die before age 12. She has oral melanoma which was diagnosed a few months ago. The vet told us there was nothing we could do and our beautiful Anna Banana only had three to six weeks to live. We havent changed our lifestyle much. We gave ourselves a couple of days to deal with the shock and mourn, but since then weve continued life pretty much as normal. Except I noticed..... Of course Anna can eat anything she wants. Some days shes stood beside the Dog Mom Bakery Cookie box most of the day, getting a cookie every time we walk by. We continue to feed our pups lunch even though our puppy is old enough to just eat two meals per day. Anna needs to take pain meds and we want to keep weight on her. We go more and more slowly on our evening walks. We dont throw Annas tennis ball very far when she feels like retrieving. We get home more quickly....no lollygagging around Target. We want to spend time with our Ann. And we take our November picture a couple of weeks early because we want to make sure Anna is in it.
