We started todays game with a slightly different approach with a strong back line and a smaller attacking midfield in efforts to prevent too many goals against us. Strong in the middle of defence was Ted who also came forward to put some good corners into the box which we were unlucky not to convert. Joining Ted at the back was Jack A and Anthony with Marshall and Thomas pushing up slightly on the far wing sides. As always Jack A was playing some strong football with fearless tackles coming every time they were needed. Anthony was doing a great job of backing him up and winning us the ball back at some vital moments. Marshall was pushing forward well and tracking back quickly to help in defence when he was needed. His understanding of his position is coming on and soon he will be a force to be reckoned with during a game. Thomas was unstoppable, playing the ball from the back forwards to Jamie and Jack who were doing their level best to work together and break through a solid Fleetwood defence. Finally the ball came through and a neat pass from J put Jack through one on one with the keeper to neatly slot it home before the break. A change at half time saw Marshall make way for Aaron who made some quick runs up from the back to get the ball forward but we were never quite able to convert the breaks we had. Ryan was chasing the ball and putting in as many tackles as possible and managing to link up well with the front two whilst also tracking back to help defend. Finlay may be small but he never stops fighting for the ball and linking up well with the whole team and moving into space will be a vital part of his game in weeks to come. Jamie had the chance to convert a free kick which he floated beautifully into the mouth of the goal only to be beaten by a well placed man on the back post. A second free kick slightly further back in which Fleetwood push as far forward as possible to try to play us off side. This time the shot went straight to the keeper. Toby was kept busy by fleetwoods strike force. As always having Toby in goal is like putting a brick wall in the way and asking players to try to get around it. He made a total of 15 saves! Thomas was awarded our man of the match award for his hard work for the whole game. He never stopped running and worked well in all areas of the pitch for the team! A good game was had by all today. Even though the score line was not what we wanted we managed to bag a goal and improvements have been made during our hard work in training. Final score 8-1
