We took a spontaneous trip to Lodi on Sunday to the Sandhill Crane Festival and, although very dry, there was one field flooded out on Woodbridge Rd. where there were some cranes, ducks and shore birds. These photos were of a gigantic compost pile covered by a tarp and held down with slices of tires. The fragrance was unreal - it might be composting grape skins and seeds after the press. The sunset over the pile was so surreal I had to stop and do some shots.
