We took two horses today to a wonderful event in Frederick, - TopicsExpress

We took two horses today to a wonderful event in Frederick, Maryland, not too far from our farm. The event was to support Pets for Vets, a great organization out of Washington, DC. The host was Greenbriar Veterinary Hospital that has been doing this for 5 years. I zoomed in on this photo because I loved the eye connection between our giant Percheron Caladhin and this adorable young girl. We dont know who she is but we are pretty sure these parents will be in deep trouble in about 5 years when she starts asking for a pony. She will be wanting a draft of course :) Caladhin is one of our seniors, a permanent resident of the rescue whom has recently been retired. These big, GIANT horses always know when a baby is around and just melt. Dad held on to his daughter, we let Mom have a gentle hold on Cals halter (she is a mom!) but this connection of the eyes and this babys soft touch on his face was just amazing. The next photo is of Blaze and Caladhin looking great and chillin while they awaited the attentions of the people that were coming. Caladhin was surrendered to us years ago and quickly became a farm favorite and he has been an amazing trail horse and has taught MANY beginners how to ride. Blaze came to us just about two years ago, retired from the Maryland National Capital Park Police force where he walked the beat of the National Mall for years. Blaze pretty much stood at attention the whole time he was there, his old life kicked in almost immediately and he was magnificent. He was also thrilled to get back into his herd at home.
