We usually like to tell you about fun things to do in southern Alsace, but heres a heads up on what to avoid, if youre in a hurry on Saturday! Portions of the autoroute A35, from Saint-Louis to Bartenheim, will be blocked off in both directions from about 13h30 to 16h, due to a planned strike by frontier workers (among them, many expats who work in Switzerland but live in France). Theyll be protesting for the right to retain free choice of health insurance. With more than 11,000 people already signed up to join the parade onto the highway, police are expecting traffic near the Swiss-French border to start backing up from 12h30, which means the Swiss highways could also be clogged.
